Vladimír Pinta
(*1933 in Prague)
a saxophone player from Charles Bridge, Prague
With his two instruments - saxophone and trombone, Vladimír Pinta takes delight in playing jazz, Dixieland, swing and boogie. His favorites include namely Duke Ellington and George Gershwin. He is a close friend of an Italian singer Roberto Magris. In addition, on his CD’s you may hear him singing various popular tunes, such as Belami, Volare Cantare, Quando, Azzuro, Granada in Italian and/or My Funny Valentine, Blue Berry Hill, Bernadine in English.
He likes to entertain people by his street playing. A firm passion developed especially between him and older Italian ladies - tourists in Prague - who give him their “baccini” and keep sending long mufflers to protect him from freezing in Prague’s winter. Vladimír’s musician’s creed consists of three principles: 1. The musician shall arrive fifteen minutes before the commencement of the performance. 2. The musician shall arrive sober. 3. The musician shall be wearing a set outfit.
