Fat Chance came to us as a 2nd pot belly pig seven years ago when a friend, who had gotten him after admiring our pig, was moving. He had not been mistreated - but had not been treated well, and thus, has always been a "scaredy pig", as we call him. It took about 4 years for him to readily allow my husband to pet him, and to seek out his attention. It took about 5 yrs for him to accept me happily. He still, after all this time, screams while my son (22 yrs old) walks through the room. My son has never harmed or threatened him in any way, but he came to us with that fear, and although he will take and eat anything my son offers, he would rather it be thrown into his bowl. He has his own pool and everything, and other than being scared, is a pretty happy guy. I will eventually, post pics and tales of our first pbp, Treyf, who died 3 years ago. Now THAT was one hell of a pig!
Well, you can see in his eyes he is sensitive & sweet. It is interesting to know he is so vocal about fear with your son. Maybe they are just creatures of habit and like things to be predictable.
We had a potbellied piglet at the shelter once and she was ADORABLE!!! Happily followed me everywhere, walked beautifully on a leash, and was housebroken. Have to say, though ... they're cuter as babies. Don't tell Fat Chance I said that ;-)
I have learned a lot from your notes: Your husband is more likeable than you, your son is scary and your house is a pig sty. :P
On a semi-serious note, that is a pretty cool looking oinker. I didn't realize their hooves were so long. Nice detail in th photo. Would like to see more of the pig - backup a bit. ;-)
Did you name him that because that's what he said when you told him to get off the couch? :D
Now there's a pet! He looks color coordinated with the background, very attractive image! I've never seen a pig feet up close... interesting... and I didn't realize that pot bellied pigs had those tusks (or whatever you call them).
