So this is only my second photo shoot with a live, human model. This is my partner's friend from work, Janet.

She came over so I could practice lighting in my new home studio! I'm using a glorified P&S with lights from Home Depot until I can upgrade to a nice DSLR and light set. I think the hard part, though, was getting free reign of the living room (actually my partner's idea, go figure). I rearranged the whole house to make it work.

This is the first to get edited but I will most certainly have a new folder of Janet in my portfolio within the next few days, along with a pic of my studio.

Very nice, Brian. Good composition. I like her pose and how the metallic belt sort of goes with the nose piercing. Seems a little soft about the face but that may just be the result of resizing. I'm impressed with your lighting in your little home studio!

Mr. Point and Shoot - you are doing a pretty good job with your photos! She does have a natural smile here too. I think I'd like to see her actually sitting up and NOT having anything near her face. I bet she has great cheekbones and the lighting would probably do the right job of highlighting them.

The lighting is great, the pose is great and you've captured a very nice and natural smile on the pretty model! One tiny thing for me is that her right hand in which she is resting her face seems to be pushing her cheek out a bit unnaturally, easily fixed with a tiny touch of the liquify tool in PS :-)

I don't know a thing about studios, but I think this looks very nice and professional! She's got a cute little grin and nice eye contact. Great to capture fun emotion!

Very nice portrait. You are doing pretty well with that point-and-shoot and home depot lights. Congratulations.
