Actually this may be ordinary for most of you, but for me it's anything but. In fact I've waited 26 years to take this photo. The last time it snowed here was in September 1981, when I was a student with a lousy 110 cartridge camera with no zoom. Needless to say my photos that day were lousy.

So when it started snowing late last night, I knew I couldn't miss out. Sadly there's not much subject matter available at 2.00am. This was a view out of our lounge window.

I took a few more shots in the morning, but they weren't too special. By the time I left home most of the snow had melted, so I never had an opportunity to go looking for a better scene.

As soon as I saw this in the thread about the freaky sky I thought, "looks like a snow sky". :)

That's how it looks here (but a bit orangier) when it snows (or is getting ready to) because of the flakes reflecting the streetlights.
We don't get snow often either, so we (daughter and I at least) like seeing the "snow sky" :)

Excellent. We haven't gotten much snow here in the East of England since I came (in 2003), and I miss it. A bit more than you, it sounds like, but honestly not much. The shot is a good record, and maybe burning the streetlamp a bit, or selecting that area with a feathered selection and using shadow/highlight adjustments on it might work to tone it down a bit (though for me it's not that distracting, just a bit).

It's cold here, first frosts of the year, but we never get snow. I'd be out at 2am if I had a chance like this. Awesome night shot!!!

Looks nice and cool, its blazing hot here with 100% humidity where I live. That makes for a hot stickiny mess! now go make some snowmen!

I already cropped some dark trees off that side. Somehow cropping any further didn't look quite right so I decided to leave it in.

I just wish I'd had more time to get some really good shots of the snow. Hopefully I won't have to wait another 26 years.

The snow looks nice it is very humid here and about 92 degrees. We are to get some thunder storms tonight and be a bit cooler tomorrow. I hope. Nice image.
