I think that the editing is fine: it looks unusual, but it's overall nicely done.
To me, the problem lies into composition. Your subject is too much centered, especially horizontally. Using the usual rule of thirds, you would have placed it a bit more toward the left-bottom, and it would probably have improved this photo.

I kinda like this treatment, but I know I get clobbered when I go this route. I hope they are being gentle!

I do think the shot here is potentially excellent but I think you've fallen into the trap of getting carried away with editing and in all honesty the effect is not a pleasing one.

It's really noisy, I think I'd like it better if it weren't and the dragonfly was more of the focus.

In my opinion the super grainy noisy effect is horribly distracting. It detracts so much from what is otherwise a nicely composed image.
