i like the effect you are trying to create, the light really brings out the texture in the wood and i really like this aspect of the shot.
However, I do think this shot falls down technically, especially on how the light is captured. I would have much prefered to see a sharp flame rather than a blurred blob with the halo. I know your focus is on the foreground of the wood but I would also like to see the candle a little sharper as this is also a strong focal point of the image and of perhaps more interest than the wood itself.
So personally I like what you are trying to do but as it falls down technically I can only give this a 6. |

I don't really like this one myself. Maybe a little less exposure? Seems the light is overexposed and although you probably wanted it that way, it doesn't do it for me. Sorry, maybe it's just me. On the upside, the wood's texture really comes alive around the fringe area of the lighting. |
