An antique floor lamp, dating back to the art deco era, I think. The lamp caught my eye during a sushy party at my sister-in-law's house (DPC's Goopsy). I took a few photos and really liked what I saw. Then the challenge topic was announced the next night. Damn! Can't use it. So what do I do? What else: I cheat? No way! I call my in-law and ask if I can come over and have a photoshoot with her lamp. Being a supporter of the arts, she obliges me. So I get there, and my camera has spent the last few hours in the car, at -25ÂșC, and everything fogs up as I take it out of the bag. Anyway, long story short, everything warms up and I shoot about a dozen shots, at various exposures and aperatures. This one works the best for me, as it allowed me to get most of the lamps in focus, plus the smaller opening generated the starbusts that you see. I used a tripod, although my original inspiration was handheld, and gave me good exposure given the light source. Only natural lighting was used.
Very little post processing, unlike my recent entries. PS7: slight levels, very slight crop, resize, very slight USM and boder.
The lamp just looks very space-age, so I automatically thought of UFOs. Obviously, it was night time, 11:30pm, and quite dark in the room at the time of the shoot.
