 I shot three other images for this challenge and kept coming back to this one. Sorry for the tight crop, but I had the 70-300MM on the camera and should have changed to the 18-70MM. But I did not. I was on the way home from work and took a different, albeit only slightly, route home. I never walk down the south side of the Parkway. I took a burst of 3 of which this is the first and did not look back. I went on shooting some architectural abstract and then the camera shutter went kerplewie! Would not close when released. I was horrified. I changed lenses and took the battery out...locked the mirror, took the card out. I knew I was in for it. This went on for some time....I took the burst off. It eventually righted itself the next day. I think my subject was getting back at me for either taking the picture or not changing the lens. Friday nights in the city. What a blast!

Post: Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Another layer of hue/sat converting to gray scale. Another layer each of levels and brightness/contrast. Layer of curves. Only spot editing was some dodging of the hand and foot. Sharpen. Resize. Sharpen.

That looks almost like a camera too. Was this staged or does some poor soul actually live there. Interesting photo.

Interesting take on the challegne. Without the foot he might look like part of the hydrant.

Odd. I like they way the sprinkler/hose looks like a camera. But the scene feels too posed.

A shot that gets you thinking, is this a down and out with his cardboard home or someone working on the firehydrant who just happens to have cardboard by they

Great take on the challenge, and good use of black and white. With just the hand and foot showing, gives the image an even bleaker appearance to the whole thing. I'm always sad, but pragmatic when I see these images, as they tug at all the heart strings. Yours works in that way, and that's a good thing, IMHO. 9.
