Ha! Maybe cropping tighter would have made the point better? Like bringing the top all the way down so their heads are as far from the top as their feet are from the bottom.
Also, I think a different title could help you answer emorgan49's excellent questions. Not every shot has to have a moral, but you increase the impact if it does. |

I kind of like this. Too bad it got slammed so badly. It does fit the challenge - a burst of color indeed.
As an aside - and you probably know this - you don't need a model release for street photography unless you're going to use it to advertise for something or put it on the cover of a book. I find it annoying to think that some people voted you down on account of their misinformation. |

Ignoring the challange theme, how does this photo stand? Your lady in blue is so in-your-face that she must carry a message. This isn't just a "pretty picture", it's more of a journalistic entry so I'm looking for a moral. Are you suggesting that people are overweight? That Spandex is out and blue jean shorts are in? That the worl is a drab place and a burst of color is needed? If I look at the composition I find the bright blue butt in the rule-of-thirds sweet spot. Ok, rules are for amateurs, you could say. If I am an amateur viewer, my eye still goes to the woman's backside. Why do you want me to look there? I'm I supposed to be amused? Attracted? In the end, I'm left wondering "Why did you want me to look at this photo?" That doesn't make it a bad photo, it means that it failed to communicate anything to me, the average dull voter.
PS - I hate the border, I'm a member of the border police. |

I really liked this one. It totally meets the challenge and a good candid to boot (no pun intended...well ok, maybe just a little). Lets hear it for the impromptu shots of the world. Good find - I am glad you captured it and entered the challenge. |
