this is a really cool idea; very creative. i would have voted this a 6 or 7, only holding it back because of the focus. i'm ok with a shallow dof, as long as the subject is razor sharp. here, i think the image would have been stronger if at least the leading rim was in focus (but, i'd have to see it both ways to offer a definitive "yep, that's the best way to do it.").
overall, the composition is excellent, as is the lighting, and colors.
as for meeting the challenge, i'd grin at that and accept your take on it without marking it down.
lastly, i can't wait to see what you turn in for the current macro-no bugs/flowers challenge; you really seem to have an eye for inanimate objects. |

I was looking for original submissions for this challenge and I think this fits the bill! Very creative and a good resolution too! |

Very clever! My only worry is that some people may not distinguish how this is a New Years Resolution. I assume it is to win lots of challenges! To the point, it's a gd shot but maybe too much out of focus. mustve been difficult to get the right bits in focus tho. |

Great photo! Still I would like for the whole left lens to be in focus. |

Technically and artistically excellent. Creative expression of theme. A tad literal and pandering for my taste though. |

Sorry, not with this picture. I can't tell what part is in focus, it almost looks like the lettering on the left arm is the closest to being in focus. |

Out of focous. Is the ribon actually on the glasses or was it eddited on? Great idea though. I think it would have come out better (be more in focus) if you had a smaller aperature. |

Decent shot, but maybe a too literal interpretation of your idea. |
