The San Francisco Bay Area doesn't get much snow, but the highest peaks, such as Mount Hamilton get a dusting a few times each winter. I've been shooting James Lick Observatory from this location since Summer, and I was glad to get this shot on Jan 3, 2004

Hey, I've been up there ... about 35 years ago! That road is so winding that school buses need to negotiate some curves in two passes ... that can be kind of interesting if you're in one of those rear seats which overhangs the back wheels by a few feet (like I was) when they back up to finish the turn.

I believe there's actually another road which approaches from the East, but I've never been on it if it's there.

It's definitely much better in the 'winter'. I was up there a couple of months ago and there was nowhere near as much color. I only live about ten miles away so maybe another trip is in order (if only to have another go at the great road which leads up to the observatory ;)
