 This is a shot of a poppy seed head from my mother's backyard. The title came to me when I noticed the "velvet" on the head looked like a starfish with too much arms. The bleeding part came from the red color in the background.

Converted from RAW.
Boosted contrast a bit
USM
Noise reduction
Crop to get rid of most of the bright orange petal that would identify too easily the poppies.
Save for web.

I am really proud of this first macro shot. I had lots of fun while shooting it and just love the way the pistils look like a boa (not the snake, the one glamourous stars would wear in the '20s). Hope it does well!

Looks like the middle part of a flower. I think a high DOF would have helped this as it's too blurry for me.

The center of some kind of flower? It looks cool in general, but I think it's a bit too dark and noisy. Could probably be a tad sharper, too.

What, right in the middle of that poppy??!!! No way! ;)

A very good macro, very clear and detailed, people who don't know what a poppy looks like will probably have a hard time figuring this one out.
