This is a great example of how a large/close softbox could greatly improve this image. I would also like to see the entire image in focus... The image just seems a little contrast for me (the darks loose all detail) and I really want to see the detail of the entire mechanism. just my opinion.

This is nice. You could have shot this at a different angle but you would have totally ruined it. The way you have it moves the viewers eye around and keeps it from being boring. Your background color is just close enough to add contrast but keep them separate, nice job. A little bright right there in the center and in other than basic challenge would probably be burnt out but it's ok it does help add some shape to it. Appears to be a clock gear mechanism or something similar. Nice job.
