 New Year's day walk in the park - and there was kayaking on the Potomac at Great Falls. Lit from behind the subject, which was a pain but it would have required a 40 mile journey to get the sun behind me!
EF 75-300mm at 300mm.
Post processing: crop, levels, selective lighten on the face (December rules), USM, NeatImage to remove noise and sharpen a little more.
Had the sun been shining on the subject this could have been a great photo!

The white water is certainly spectacular. The action is good, and it's amazing you could get the kayaker that sharp.

Just a bit quick on the shutter. I think we need to see more of the Kayak or the man to have more impact.
