Thank you Julianne. I have no clue how to sharpen with USM but I think I read somewhere (probably in a DPC forum) that it was best accomplished in several passes of small intensity - one pass after converting from RAW and the others after final resizing. I prefer to use high pass or edge sharpening, however, neither is legal in basic. (unless the rule has been changed)
Most of the detail in this photo was a result of using an excellent lens and the fact that I backlit with a green light and front lit with daylight. This allowed me to use selective color and curves to combine the textures as I saw fit. |

Congratulations on your ribbon! I love the effect you got with USM. Do you have a formula you use for the different settings? I'd love to try that technique myself. |

Wow!
Wish I had taken it - but maybe I am too staid and dull to think like it.
Thanks for the boot it has given me - I feel motivated to do something similar - emulation is the sincerest form of flattery, they say, so thanks again |

the textures are great! Not sure it's fitting the challenge though. There is no process of the growth being caught in the act. |

This looks like a silk flower to me.. (not a point deducter btw).. There's just something about the lighting that's giving it this strange effect. I would have liked to see the stem so maybe not such a close up.. Great focus. Overall a 6 for me so I give a 7.. |
