I agree with you that this is an underrated shot. I would expect it to score in the mid to high 5's for a couple reasons.
1.) It's not very sharp, was that your intention?
and 2.) The colors don't really pop out.
The lighting, moment, expression, and feeling of the image is excellent, just a few technicals are holding it back. Another thing is that piece of paper(?) on the bottom right distracts from everything else. This is a great concept that can go very far. Maybe try a little more post processing with it and see what you can get.

| i do not like the choice of Selective desaturation here because it draws the attention away from the girl. Maybe if you just did it to the background... |

| This feels a bit too intimate to be a candid, you had to be right next to her with your camera ready. Shame it's so blurry. The light isn't great, resulting in unavoidable blown highlights and shadows under the eyes. |
