 This was taken in Missoula, MT on the river, that's why I could get the slow shutter speed plus freeze him. The waves were making him go back and forth in the same spot.

..I panned a tiny tiny bit in some of the shots, and I'm not sure if this was one of them! I took a ton, and this was the only one that came out pretty sharp.

Great composition. The blues are nice, but the surfer dude seems a bit flat. Maybe it is just the water around him.

Nice action candid. Feel like the surfer could do with a touch more 'pop' but I can guarantee that if you showed him this shot he would want a copy of it

this seems more like a sports photo than a candid photo, but technically it is candid and I like the soft pastel colors. 6

This is simply an incredible capture. I can't believe that you managed a crisp focus on the face with all that motion blur going on! I don't know how you will end up in scoring though as I look at this and the first thing I see is action and not Candid...
