This may not score well because it's a kid (or just a mediocre photo :) ), but I have never been comfortable photographing people, so this is what ya get. :)

The shot was taken at the long end of the zoom, so it was softer than I wanted. The softness plus the ugly yellow-green water led me toward the black and white processing.

I used the vignette because the blurred water around the edges was so bland and lifeless.

there's something strange and scary about this photo, like he's too close to the ducks, and then there's his hand reaching out, the almost desperate expression on his face. 8

I'm a bit tossed up about the blur around the edges. It's doing things with my eyes, even though the subject - the kid - is in focus. I like the black and white - well I usually do. The burned edges are cool and add atmosphere. The gesture you caught is cool and different, as well as the boy's facial expression. The tones are a bit soft. 6

Cute but a little soft on the focus. I don't care for the border effect myself...

I like the bw and composition of this. The vignette/frame is a bit distracting, though, in that it doesn't seem to add to the shot, but rather is a separate, distinguishable characteristic.

I don't often like candids of children, but this one is better than most.. I like his expression

vignette works but leaves the overall image a little muddy. I like the composition - like that you left in at least the head in the bottom left to give us a sense of what he is looking at. DOF works well. sharpness where it should be. well done.

VERY well done, this has the feeling of one of the old shot's my grandmother used to keep on the mantlepiece.

Soper candid imahage of a child absorbed in what they are doing. Like the dof you have used and the B&W works very well as does the slight vignetting

Nice capture - Like the light - Shame about the cropped ducks to the left.
