Just the corners of the pages of a book, held up in front of a wooden window frame in the evening sun to get the warm tones. I was holding both the book (so the pages stayed gently open) and the camera... I really need to learn to use a tripod and line things up correctly instead of just wobbling around until I think it all looks lined up and focused.. then clicking and hoping for the best! :P

Slight color adjustment, layer of soft light applied to the highlights, touch of gaussian blur to the background to hide some noise and artifacts, and usm.

great shot the lines are perfect i have to agree that a tripod may have given you a sharper focus but good job

I don't think that you really need to worry about the lines, I think you've done a great job in that department. However I fully agree that you def need to use a tripod at least for the camera as the 2 hand held objects have created a terrible handshake.
Otherwise, your waiting for the right light is the mark of a patient and good photographer.

Surprise surprise surprise it worked. And it worked amazingly well. You don't need no tripod!
Seriously ... this is a very sensous shot. I don't know why book pages and a wood shutter would look that way ... but it does.

WOW, something so simple can be made to look so beautiful. There is a soft gentle touch here, almost Oriental. Interesting how you did it, amazing not having a tripod.
