I have to agree with the majority here, the negative image works very well here, the shells almost seem to have an mystical/magical feel to them.

It's rare I think that a "negative" image works like this. What's interesting to me is how the glass looks normal while the shells look surreal. Good job. |

As far as the comment from kteach is concerned, perhaps you could try shooting this with the lid off. |
You know...I almost did this, but second guessed myself. Thanks to everyone for all of the comments and suggestions. I love being able to see things through someone else's eyes. |

Interesting the way the negative version makes it look illuminated. Something about the top half with all of the horizontal lines around the lid just doesn't feel like it flows with the contents of the jar for me. But I don't have any suggestions for improving it either, so I guess it can't be that distracting to me! |

cool. Makes it look like there's a light inside them and it was taken in a dark room. |

Yes, it does look like a bulb within a pile of shells, but I see it's a negative now. Good cropping.
I saw your note about comments on yesterday's experiment. I totally missed it yesterday, and just went back to see it. It really touched me, and seeing the comment about it needing a story I added a possible one. It might be fun to create different stories about some of these pictures. |

Great idea for your subject matter! I thought you had lit the shells from behind with a light of some sort. Really cool image.

I think this works. When I first looked at it I didn't realize it was negative. And it made me look twice. Nicely done. Interesting. |

That's very nice idea!
I just think the upper part been too complicated and dark compared to the light below... just my thought :)
