Loved this - 10 from me. Outstanding detail - and a terrific choice of subject. Title too. I love what chalice said below - it's right on! |

Congratulations on an excellent entry and a very good final placement. I love the shot: the colors, the crop, the subject, the focus. I think the background is perfect. What a funny and marvelous bird! |

Score 7..
Now, isn't this little guy a cutie.. I've never seen this type of bird & have no idea what it is, but congrats on submitting a very unique image..
I love the dof here.. I think it's perfect for a subject like this & really helps to show the detail in the feathers.. I'm not a huge fan of the coloring as I don't feel the orange is adding to the red in the front of the bird or in it's eye.. It's sorta competing imho..
You have really nice focus and I think that's perfect as any more sharpening would maybe make this look like it was "too" sharpened..
My only gripe would be that some of the feathers on top & side are cut off.. I'm sure it wasn't easy though capturing this.. Otherwise, it's a solid entry and one I enjoyed very much.. Keep up the great work !!

The first time you receive a VCE comment, randomly choose five (5) images from this challenge (or another challenge) and leave quality, useful comments/critiques like this one. Make sure to mention good things as well as bad things. Then, see how many you receive in return over the next few weeks. Make sure you copy this VCE notice at the end of each comment. Lovely bird; eye is tack-sharp and bokeh is pretty and complementary. |

Good photo of a cool bird. i think for me the title here distracts from the image. It is such a unique bird, I think i would have titled it..... "Why!?!?" and let the viewer decide what the question was about. Nice DOF.
I am not a good photographer, I do not claim to be better than anyone, any criticism is meant to be constructive criticism...... |

Great photo of a very unique bird. I feel that the eye should be less centered in the image. Trimming a little more from the right side would have helped. but otherwise Its a lovely shot! |
