Reading the challenge topic made me think of doing something unusual, like the old trick of smearing vaseline on part of a filter to partially distort an image. "Why is this a good idea? Why didn't I think of that? Why not? Why ask why?"

Thought about shooting through broken glass, then started playing around with saran wrap layered over the lens. Stretched a piece across my macro then screwed a UV filter in to hold it in place, so i could wrap more or less saran wrap in front of the lens, wrinkled or flat, as I shot.

Took a bunch of test shots, planning to go out and reshoot later. But I liked this one and decided to go with it after running out of time to reshoot.

It will probably get panned. I'm just hoping for a few positive comments to see whether any one else out there likes this treatment.

Not much editing: levels, a boost in contrast, a small bump in brightness, and desaturated it a bit (-30) to soften the colors, the resized, bordered and saved for web. No sharpening -- what would be the point?

Predicting a 5.2, but won't be surprised if it ends up a 4.8 or lower. (My double take entry is above 6 at the moment, so hopefully my DPL team will forgive this little experiment ...)

OMG, that's such a beautiful image. I can't believe the score was so low!

Well, it's an interesting technique with quite a pleasing effect. I wonder if anyone used it in the Blur challenge recently. (Obviously, I haven't looked at all the Blur pics ;=))

For what it's worth: I had this beautiful shot in my top 10 and IMO it's ridiculous that you end up as 214...

Again, this might look nice on my wall, but it just does not do much for me in a photography challenge... You could probably make a really nice gallery of images with this same concept though.

I am not a good photographer, I do not claim to be better than anyone, any criticism is meant to be constructive criticism......

I like the photo much better than the title. You can obtain a better result with Gaussian blur in photoshop.
