Beautiful. No wonder it did so well. Terrific depth of colour. Awesome. |

An excellent example of subtle painting with light - I gave it an 8 during the challenge - I would have gone even higher but I really didn't like the color that the flashlight gave to the rock.
It seems some commenters on your image think that painting with light has to be sharp laser point streaks in geometric shapes. |

No flash, I used a flashlight throughout a 57 second exposure and it was nearly dark outside. I'd say I met the challenge better than most because I used a "non-stationary light source" to "illuminate my subject." Most people made the non-stationary light their subject.

Excellent idea. The silhouetted background and the lit foreground give this an interesting look. |

This is a perfect example of what this challenge calls for in my opinion. I would love to see this win the blue. |

Nice job on the rock to make it pop out a little in the pic. The whole pic is gorgeous - love the setting. |

The rock looks a bit bright to me, but this is more what I was expecting in this challenge, Nice sky and great water. Looks Good |

Hmm. So did you light up the rock during the sunset? It's a beautiful shot, but I don't really think the rock being lit up adds any interest to the picture. |

Absolutely beautiful ... well composed, perfectly exposed for both the rich silhouettes of the trees and the soft reflections in the water. The use of a flashlight (?) to brighten the rock adds foreground interest and pulls everything together. Anyone who questions whether this is painting with light is simply out of their mind. |

A placid scene. Beautiful reflections, and tones. Composition is fairly strong too. |

really nice job - the lighting on the rock is ever so little bit harsh but that is one heck of a background and a really good composition |

I love the silhouetted trees in the background and the blues of the water. In my opinion, the lightpainted rock is taking my attention away from the best elements in the picture. |

So unless you have one POWERFUL flashlight, I assume only the rock was light-painted :) It's a very beautiful image, but the rock isn't an interesting enough subject. Maybe take advantage of the "paint" part and try to light it up more creatively? A high score from me anyway. |

Beautiful picture, but not on the topic of "painting with light" as the contest required. |
