From Wikipedia:
The watchmaker analogy, or watchmaker argument, is a teleological argument for the existence of God. By way of an analogy the argument states that design implies a designer...The most famous statement of the teleological argument using the watchmaker analogy was given by William Paley in 1802.

I was so surprised at how well the picture came out (the original didn't look that good) that I didn't think that most people wouldn't get it. "What do you believe in?...Paley's Watchmaker Analogy" (not really, but you get the point).

Beautiful picture, and interesting too. I'd like to know what the whole clock looks like.

I'll admit I wouldn't have gotten the analogy (didn't vote in this challenge) as I'm not very up on religious theories and such. As a picture, though, I think it's very well done. Love the textures and rich colors - quite nice!

Forgive me for being ignorant but I can't see how this fits in to the theme. Good shot none-the-less - I like it.

Love the lighting, the highlights on the wood, the contrast of green and gold.

=)

Poor old Paley can probably be forgiven for that theory, given it was another 60 years after he died before it was thoroughly debunked by Darwin. It saddens me that hundreds of years later people are still clinging to that same raft though!

Nice idea for a pic.

Like the picture, but I'm not sure what it's got to do with religion.

Disagree with the title, but like the photo. Gives a very good feeling of depth. colors are good. Like how the frame leads my eye around the photo.

Such a bad argument. And depressingly still often put forward seriously. 8
