Not my favorite of your shots but it sure brings back memories of growing up in Swansea, Massachusetts. The area is full of these buggers. We used to have wars with them,to the ire of our parents who had to cut them out of our hair. The spikes get under your skin like fiberglass. Itchy!

BTW, I love that you note the Latin name for them. We always just called them burrs and I've had a hard time describing them to people who haven't experienced them. Now I know what to call them.

I like the unique subject of your photo, the clarity of the 'curl' at ends as well as the dew drops. Is that a moth too? Well Done!

Almost looks like one of those sea urchins with the little sticky stuff on the end. Great DOF and composition.

Awesome DOF. Best in Challenge. Great detail. Give it an 8 just because other pics (2) are more interesting and have same attention to detail. Thanks. 8.

Very, very nice. Great dof, and lovely color. The definition in the bur is amazing.

I really really like this very much indeed. Your choice of subject matter is excellent - it has wonderful texture, colour, form... and your composition and DOF choice serve to emphasise all those aspects very well. A striking image.

Technical: fits the challenge. Exposure composition focus lighting all very good.

Personal: I realize that this is probably on a bush, but for me this would be more interesting if the main bur was isolated more from the background. The bur behind it detracts. Perhaps another angle would have allowed it to be the only bur?

Nice. Background is a little noisy though.
