I read an article in "Nature Magazine" describing how scientists have recently discovered that insects do not devour flowers for the nourishment. Instead, because the complex structure of an insect eye renders the perfectly formed petals of most flowers into a type of ultramoire pattern, the insect develops an intense headache. To alleviate this migraine, an insect will chew every petal of their home into irregular, insect-eye-pleasing shapes. In reality, insects hate the taste of flowers and would rather eat just about anything else. I thought that was interesting.
However, not all insects abuse Neat Image to the degree demonstrated in this photo.

I think this is a really cool shot - but I wish I could see the bug more clearly - possibly a little too contrasty. Great choice of username and personification.

wonderfull snap. it jumped at me from the thumbnails. maybe its too much to ask, the slight blurr in the centre is distracting..
