The Monastery of St. Bernard de Clairvaux was build in Spain during the period 1133-1141 A.D.

It is now located in....N. Miami Beach in Florida! That's right. An ancient Spanish Monastery located in Florida of all places!

Long story short William Randolph Hearst (of Hearst Castle fame) brought it over stone by stone back in 1925. Due to an outbreak of hoof and mouth disease and later financial troubles the 11,000 crates sat in N.Y. for 26 years before being auctioned off, bought, transported down to Florida where it was reassembled for a cost of 1.5 million. Ancient Spanish Monastery

I converted this photo to B&W and used the square crop. I think the B&W works much better. Some may recognize an earlier shot that was taken at the Monastery called Bella Sonadora

Lovely. I'm not sure about the centered composition, I'd almost like to see this wider with the girl off to the right in a thirds position, but the conversion to b/w is spot on.

Such a beautiful shot in bw. The architecture and flora/fauna, not to mention the beautiful child, work really well together.
The one thing that hit me right away was the angle of the fencing ... it looks like the horizon is tilted ... however, the stones at the top of the shot indicate that the horizon is straight. I don't know?!?!?!?

THIS is BEAUTIFUL!! The architecture and those beautiful arches are wonderful in their own right -- but the presence of that gorgeous little girl in her white gown! Wow!

And what a cool story! Thank you for complimenting that great photo with its amazing history!

This has a mystique to it. Maybe it's her expression in combination with the ferns and vines. Love the stones and column for added line. Nice shot. (edited for misspelled word)
