 The tippy top of a snapdragon on a sheet of white paper. Shot at my desk during a slow work day. My co-workers are blessedly quite accustomed to this.

In Nikon Editor:
sharpening: medium
effect: black & white
color balance: red -55, green +48, blue +73

In CS2:
dup layer: screen, 100% fill
flatten image
dodging and cloning on background shadows
adj layer: channel mixer: monochrome, red 100%, green -6%, blue 4%
flatten image
dup layer: soft light, 50% fill
resize
smart sharpen
gothic glow layer: 16% fill

This is a cool idea and the textures are captured very well - personally I'd prefer if the very top of the snapdragon was a bit more sharply in focus.

This is fantastic! The details are so, so sharp here. I thought it was an asparagus spear, but see it is a snapdragon. Anyway, very well done!

Like the item very much, the starkness of the background doesn't thrill me.

Quite beautiful in its starkness.

I love the conversion as well... you've captured some fine tones, and given the shot an almost "infrared" look. Textures are very lifelike.

I might have pulled back the sharpening a *touch*, myself.. but that's my only piddly complaint.

This is great! The texture is so vivid, I can almost touch it! I really love the whites on the white, and the contrast of the grays and black. I love it!!!

You ARE blessed! About 1/2 of my job at work is photography, and I still don't think I could get away with whipping my camera out at my desk to take challenge photos. It's bad enough that every time anyone so rudely interrupts me, I have DPC up -- COMMENTING lately :) The photos would never fly.

What an amazing shot! Thanks for the info on processing also! Yeah as stated before the textures and details and DOF and well eveything! Truly a wonderful shot! Love it! The co-workers comment is pretty funny too...lol.

Love the information on what you did with the image. You got some wonderful contrasts in the shot and it is very well composed. Can't see it as a color shot. I think black and white was the best way to edit.
