While shooting my friends who were getting married in New York, we decided to stop by a very touristy area, New York\\\'s famous South Street Seaport. While there, we were greeted by a thunderous clapping and people who were from Italy who wanted to take a group shot to bring back home.

Greetings from the Critique club. First let me welcome you to DPC with your first challenge entry. Now on to the critique. First let me remind you to always take advantage of the largest size available for any challenge. In this case 640 pixels on the largest side. Here is a link to the critique.

Tutorial

Next thing make sure that when you have an entry to make sure you crop out unwanted/needed things. In other words crop out just what you want us to see as your subject. Take the stuff on the bottom, top, left and right that dont add to the photo.

The colors that I can see from the small size look good.

Overall you have some room for improvement but hopefully I've helped you get that start.

It's kind of funny photo, lets just say it's a cultural were married people take thair wedding photos with strangers for change, but small in size though.

the phot is really small.

tooo small

I'm sure you have already heard this, but the posted shot is too small to see. It would be easier to vote on if it were larger.

and tell me that is a photograph...disgrace for the site...

It is far too small. Use the 640 pixels you have available.
05/12/2007 01:35:02 PM
Perhaps nice, perhaps not. Can't see it clearly with such a small size.

LOL, reminds me of my wedding day. We had it so one was serious and the second one everyone was pulling a stupid face.

I like this, not the best picture technically but it's good fun.

I would love to have seen a bigger version of this interesting looking shot. I won't be the first (sorry, you must be sick of it by now), it really does help to enter the full size allowable (640 pixels widest edge). If you're not sure how to achieve this post a thread in the forum after the challenge is over.

This really is an interesting looking shot, nice composition!

Photo is too small, making it hard to see the subjects.

Too small

the size hurts this image
05/09/2007 08:51:07 PM
better to have maximum (700 px) possible large format. It's best to use "Save for web" Photoshop option, to achieve maximum size with 150 Kb.
I will not give you mark here, just wish you good luck.

You underealized the potential of this shot... a larger image would have brought a better perspective on the event than the title. Let the picture be the title...

tighter composition, or post process bottom/side crops to draw attention to the subjects (and eliminate the extras)Nice prime subjects

Three things about this image are going to hurt your score just a little bit. First, the image is smaller than what is allowed. Your longest side should be 640 pixels instead of 400 pixels. Two, the image looks tilted to the right. Third, the image isn't sharply focused. Did you sharpen the image after you down sized it for the challenge? Most people use Unsharp Mask with a radius of 1 or smaller after downsizing. You found a cultural event that meets the challenge nicely and everyone looks like they are having a lot of fun. A bit more attention to the post processing details and you will find your scores will improve greatly.

why so small? use the size allowance to show details in your image
05/09/2007 06:20:03 AM
small
05/09/2007 03:31:11 AM
Oh, such a nice idea, but so small, and even being so small, there are extra people in the shot that should be cropped out, on both the left and right.

Way too small for me to have a strong opinion about. As it is, it might be nice, but it doesn't feel like anything but a so-so snapshot for the photo-album.
05/08/2007 10:06:43 PM
Why so small? It's impossible to see anything this way...
05/08/2007 09:51:33 PM
This looks as though it may be an interesting photo, but is too small to make a judgement. I suspect you are a new member - if so, have a read of this tutorial showing how to prepare your entry for DPC. If you need any more help, feel free to PM me.
