Fascinating. You often come up with interesting takes on the challenge. Thanks for teaching me something about Geisel! I went home and told my wife, who also didn't know that about him. Between this and JuliBoc's entry, I've learned a lot. |

I was really surprised by the brown ribbon on this one. I gave it an 8. Well the OOBIE should make up for that. Pretty special -- two awards in one challenge. ;P Congratulations on a marvelous entry. |

Hello from the Critique Club,
Wow, I really don't know where to start. This is my first Critique Club assignment of a Brown Ribbon winner and it goes to someone that has been around long enough to know what to expect in relation to the image subject chosen and the expectations of the voters from the challenge topic. First, let me start by stating the obvious. Your image does depict your vision for the challenge strongly; however, the image quality and subject choice made this an easy vote low and move on entry. I also think if you would have included Geisel's pen name in the title, Theodor Geisel's, aka Dr. Seuss, "Design for Death", your image would have made more sense to the general voters (especially those outside the US).
Reading your comments, I see that the coloration was a major factor in your processing. When I think of nuke clouds I think of big white mushrooms emanating from a focal point of destruction (I've never seen a real one, only those portrayed in the movies). I wonder how your clouds would have looked in B&W with super high contrast, as the yellowish color doesn't really work for me. OK, now I̢۪m trying to force my perception on your artistic vision. Sounds kind of like DPC doesn't it.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding this critique.
Tim

i also thought this was don's work. a great image, and it was very nice to see someone considering more than geisel's children's work. well done indeed. |

I thought this was Don (posthumous) - not sure if you'll take that as a compliment or an insult, though. :-) Very good take on the challenge. |

I had to look it up. Before I did, I liked this a lot as I could recognize what the shapes were supposed to be. Now that I have thought about it some more I am bumping you up a couple points. |

Not sure what it is supposed to be. Doesn't make much sense to me and image seems to have no discernible subject. |

Very dark visually and title. The over enhancement has given a lot of speckle and although it is easy to see the mushrooms the overall look is not pleasing to MY eye. Sorry |

Wow, mushroom clouds... an unbelievable spin on the challenge. Great vision. I've not seen the movie, but can imagine this not being a story for the kiddies. Hope for your sake that people have taken the time to look this one up on the net before judging. |

I don't get it. I get that the blurry mushrooms are supposed to be from nukes but I don't get how that relates to Dr. Seuss. So then I am left with a blurry photo of mushrooms. |

This one I am having a hard time understanding, these are mushrooms I am gathering. I am un familiar with who Theodor geisel is. That is my problem not yours, so you get a 7 for the shot. |
