Greetings from the Critique Club -

Well you technically met the challenge with the clock as your prop. But what you have presented the voters isnt really much more than that IMO.

This doesnt have a very pleasing or eyecatching composition. THere doesnt seem to be any real purpose to this. The editing is so so. And the use of the flash while probably necessary to get the image onto your card really doesnt do anything to improve the dynamics of the shot.

That said, keep on shooting and keep on working on your skills. This place has alot to offer and if you take some time to study high scoring images and their descriptions, read the threads on shooting and processing and even ask people in the threads for tips, pointers and suggestions you will not be able to help but grow and improve. This place is a treasure trove of info. Go out there and get it.

Good luck in future entries! Have fun!

Certainly interesting, although, for this viewer, not entirely aethetically pleasing! This appears to be the inside of some sort of drainage system, with a clock face placed in one of the drain-pipes. I getthe relationship of the circles to pi, and to the significance of the time, but am unsure if I am missing something else. One observation, and I think it is this that I find so interesting - there is something peculiarly organically female about the composition. Strange!

Clever, and took me a couple times viewing before I noticed it was a clock perched there. Still don't know quite what I'm looking at, but the circles, the clock time and the surreality of what appears to be a wall clock hanging in a sewer makes for an intriguing image and creative take on the challenge. Good job!

having a little trouble seeing where this is going, 3:14 on the clock? If so, I wish it were more obvious in the photo. Good tones and composisition though

Ok, took me a while to make the connection to pi... the title was helpful, but I think the III:XIV is a bit too small and blends in too much to be easily seen. You'll probably get a few DNMC comments or votes from folks who don't take the time. I like the variety of circles and flow of the water line which moves your eye around, but the lighting seems a bit dull for this one. Good luck!

the concept is a 10
if you could edit with dodge and burn you could pop the contrast up a lot: 8
Great composition:10
I had to look at this twice to get the full effect:6
The title helped a lot: 10
Total: 8.8(low 9)
I bet people won't like it, which is a shame.
I find this to be a well thought thru pic and you should be commended on that.
GOOD JOB!!!

What is this?

OK, there are circles and a very out of place clock showing 3:14, but this is pretty contrived and not very pleasing or artistic; as hard as it is to be pleasing and artistic with pi.

Intriguing shapes and forms. The image lacks tonal range though and feels a little flat.

I'd increase the contrast, and ignore whether the flash shadows are blown - they're lost anyway.

"pi" is a Greek letter, not roman!
