Quick write up... I know this image isn't 100% symmetrical as one of my outtakes which is closer(which I will try to post) but the contrast is what won here. Tried hard to get the paper sections the same on both sides but my patience ran out. I always got the first side pleated nicely but the 2nd got me :) Should've panned/rotated the cam a bit to the right here. One diffused light from the top. This image barely needed any levels adjustment out of cam, shot in camera b/w jpg. So I'm pretty happy with that. The folds do remind me of wings and the pen, the body. "Give me wings so I can fly" was the first title to come to mind but it's pretty cheesy ;)

Greetings from the critique club. I'm really not sure what to say about this image. I mean the voters liked it and commented on it, not sure what else a member of the CC can offer to help you. The only thing that I do notice is that its not really symmetrical as the lower left side is larger then the right side, I think thats a result not being straight on with pen. Otherwise its been well recieved by the voters and I like the post processing.

I love how some people can make simple items so interesting and wonderful to look at. This photo has a nice balance to it and is fun to look at. The DOF was the right choice here as is the color (B/W) tones. Nicely done! Bump to 10!

nice picture, although not entirely symmetric. pages on the left seem to reach lower than the ones on the right.

Wonderful. Well conceived and executed. Clear focus, wonderfully shot and processed. I love the shallow DoF, used here to very good effect. Nothing bad to say here.
