Taken at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Norwich, CT. The family went to the Cathedral for a Cubscout award ceremony and when I saw the ceiling I was grateful to have brought the tripod along!

RAW image opened in CS2 - adjusted curves, exposure.

Opened in Elements 3.0
Cropped to size - ~1% rotated
Adjusted levels, Contrast/Brightness, Hue/Sat - individual channels.
Used Shadows/ Highlights to adjust shadow areas on whole image.
USM 25,50,0
Save for web at 640
Opened and USM 125,0.3,0
Used standard noise reduction at level 5
Save for web <150 kb


I just wish I could have cloned the spot lights so that they were completely symmetrical - I couldn't find an angle to get them all shining brightly!!!

Thanks for all the kind comments on this image. I realize it was a copy cat to several other better images in recent challenges, but I couldn't resist the symmetry.

I love Gothic architecture.

You've managed some lovely soft tones and textures here. The lights are a little distracting, but you can only work with what's there, right?

Nice shot! I now have another place to go shoot. unless, of course, you've already claimed this spot! As soon as I saw the star pattern of the lights, I knew you used the Tokina. It gives the best starburst patterns.

Wow - very nice entry, Peter! I'm sorry to say I didn't get to this one while voting, because you would have had another high score. Those starbursts of light are so well done, and the DOF is awesome. Great entry!
