Yeah, I know I posted this one earlier, and hopefully it wont be my final entry... but its the 27th and I still dont have "the shot!" I had to put something decent up as a placemarker, didn't I?

I'm pretty sure this is legal in advanced, no expert craziness here. RAW conversion, B&W, some burn/dodge, red channel NR, and some sharpening.

I would expect a low 6 out of this.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Terrific whites, grays and darks. You found a great sky and captured it well. The one-third, two-thirds composition works well and while it would have been splendid if you could have had a calm, motionless body of water, this rippled effect works too.

I'm of two minds about the rocks to the right. While I suspect you were going for an anchor for the bottom of the image, and this is one, I wish it was a bit stronger. Naturally, that's just one person's opinion (mine) and should be taken as such.

In any event, this image worked well for you and you received some nice scores from our voters. And I do like to see nicely done black & white work. This is, indeed, nicely done.

dramatic, the city is so lost under that cloud formation; the rock & foliage right corner distract me, compete with the pier. Maybe a closer crop on the water as foreground & the pier as the would have (indirectly) provided the emphasis of the buildings?

This is great! Incredible depth, and the light on the skyline is amazing. I'm torn about the shoreline on the right; the framing it adds is nice, but it only covers 1/3 of the edge and to me is a little distracting, if it could have been continued farther up the frame I think that would have helped.

I say 9. Very nice shot.

Cool photo. You've shown how nature still towers over us - even our big cities. You've got some nice whites in this photo. The large rock on the right is a little distracting - maybe we need more or less of the shoreline.
