A cellar light in my house combined with some woody shots I took in a light tent against a black background...dragged the woody images onto the light image...levels, curves, colorized, usm..used transform tool on wood figures, burned some areas, used layer masks when needed; dodged when needed.
post challenge: I don't know why this did so badly...maybe the woodies weren't such a good idea.

I am not a woody-hater as such, but in this case they have turned what I thought a rather good study of something mundane into a kitsch creation that takes away from the quality of the original image. On a (slightly) less subjective, and more technical, level, the light on the woodies just doesn't seem quite right when compared to the placement of the light source; the focus on the woodies seems quite soft compared to that of the light and it's fittings; and the composition seems not quite right - I would have preferred to see all of the woody on the right, stretching out and reaching for the light, hoverring in the air. Hope this helps a little.

A lot of people on DPC are not fond of woodies. I do not know why...

I loved the cobwebs in this image but it does not really speak to me if you know what I mean. It is missing the "wow" factor.

This is amazing. You must have had a super fast shutter to freeze this shot.
