Love the blues. Your fair skin, blue eyes & dark hair are powerful. This is an amazing shot. |

Joe, this is spectacular. When I scroll the screen so that the top of the photo is cut off a little, it heightens its impact, losing that bit of tan wall and black edge. Looking forward to more from you, especially at this angle--but certainly not under the condition you were in. Cheers! |

Joe..
This is a wonderful photo. I know how you can wish "it wasn't on the web" because it makes you look vulnerable and weak. But in reality... it shows a part of all of us. We all have that look on the inside of us from time to time, even if it doesn't show necessarily on the outside.
As for the photograph itself... after working for so long in the photojournalistic field, I can tell you this...this is a perfect example of an 'open-ended photojournalistic photograph'. Photojournalism is the art of using a picture to tell a story. By open-ended I mean that your picture tells a complete story without necessarily giving the particulars surrounding the photograph. Anyone who looks at your photograph knows immediately that you are scared, feeling vulnerable and afraid of whatever is next. Only you and whoever you have told know WHY you are feeling this way, but this doesn't necessarily matter since the feelings you are feeling are right there in front of us.
Great photograph, Joe!! |

I wish my eyes were still blue like that..
They kinda went grey on me.
I'm a little scared, but nowadays they can't really let anything bad happen during surgery, can they?
=P
Think of the get well gifts I'll get afterwards! |

Wow! I was going to say this was a really cute S.P. and then I read your story! I love the bright blue eyes. Hope everything goes ok! |

Scheduled surgery at the end of May.
But I'll be okay.
=D
I was actually going to delete this picture, but my mom wouldn't let me.
To my dismay, it is now framed and hanging on our wall.
Makes me look like a wuss. D=
I suppose it's alright compared to the rest of my pictures, though.. |

Incredibly powerful photograph, Joe. The pale face, huge dark eyes, and placement of the lamb do combine to make you look very scared and vulnerable. I see this was two and a half years ago - hope all is well now. |

The vulnerability is stunning. It definitely evokes a strong emotional response. The eyes say it all. |

I agree with Erin's suggestions. Regardless, this is a powerful photograph given the story. The expression on your face says it all. |

I can't get over the story that you've posted along with this image. And in the middle of what must have been a terrifying experience , you had the creative foresight to document it. Wow. I would love to see this in black and white, with some attention paid to enhancing the mood through light and shadow. The eyes really tell the tale here. Hope that you're well now. :) |
