If your camera has a screen on the back of it, look at the screen and keep backing up/moving closer to the cup until the cup looks clear and sharp. Make sure it's set to Macro (the flower symbol) to keep it sharp. It's okay if the background looks blurry. In fact, it's a good thing when shooting a shot like this. It makes the cup clearer. Using a self timer (it kind of looks like a Q) will eliminate the blurriness caused by holding the camera in your hand. Set the camera on a book or two and set the self timer, keeping the focus in mind.

See if it looks any better.
I mean no harm. Just trying to help.
I hope to see more from you.

I would be better if the cup and bubble were in focus, not the towel.

out of focus to much going on in the background

The bath towel in the background is in focus, not the bubble, interesting though. Also if the whole cup were in the frame it would have been better IMO.

oh my. Only the towel in the background looks to be in focus. Nice try

A little soft in the focus, but still a nice pic...

backround is more in focus than your subject

The backround is focused and draws my attention away from the bubble.

I think your focus should be on the mug and bubble.

I'd rather see the cup in focus than the towel in the background, since it's in the title. Rotate a bit to miss the edge of the towel and make a more mystery background.

I would've preferred the bubble in focus.

You have already recieved too many out of focus comments I'm sure...I've done this far too many times, I'll shoot get home and see that my camera focused on the wrong subject...the bubble looks to be quite nice though...too bad.

I like the background of the green curtin or towel in focus. Wow 7

The towel being in focus detracts seriously from the bubble in this photograph - it may have been your intention however I think it looses impact.

the focus is on the towel in the background... even if it was intentional it doesnt really fit.

you focused on the towel...

It seems from the focus (on the towel behind) that the image is mistitled. I think focusing on the cup and bubble and having the background out of focus would have worked in this image much better.

Nice idea, but the background is in focus and the subject is not.

Agh, focus is waaay off, sorry.

I wish that the focus was more on the cup and the bubble rather than on the background. The bubble looks great and the cup looks interesting but the lack of focus makes it so the viewer can't further examine the image.

Why is green towel in focus while bubble & mug are not?

Lack of sharp focus kills this shot.

The foreground, including the bubble is out of focus and the background is in focus, I see what you were trying to do here but I think it would have been better with all the bubble in focus.

WHY put the focus on the TOWEL in the background?? *sigh*
  Photographer found comment helpful.
04/26/2007 01:59:04 PM
I would like this a lot better if the bubble and cup were in focus and if the image had the entire cup. My attention goes to the texture of the towel (?).

04/26/2007 01:23:41 PM
Well, the towel is in focus. I think the bubble should have been in focus to be your subject. Better Luck next time.

Focus seems to be on the background when it should be on the cup and/or the bubble. I faced the same problem with my night shot.

Careful - your focus is on the curtain in the background. Over-ride your camera and manually focus on the bubble in this case. (I'm guessing it was on automatic focus) Cute idea though!

I wish the mug was in focus instead of the background.

04/25/2007 02:09:59 PM
it's odd, the foreground, including the bubble is fuzzy, yet the detail in the green backdrop is amazing!

04/25/2007 02:07:37 PM
Photo would be better if your backdrop went clear across the photo and was without the wrinkle; something other than the towel was in focus. The reflections in your bubble are indistinct, and there is a dark area to the left of the mug that is distracting. I like the placement of the cup handle, framing the edge of the table, your choice of color combinations (a little unusual, but the orange/green contrast is nice).
