Greetings from the Critique Club
My first impression from this picture is the abstractness of this picture. While very appealing, it is difficult to find the rule of thirds aspect in this picture. With your use of depth of field, this picture meets the challenge, but in an abstract way that is not obvious when looked at during voting. I believe this may have hurt you in the voting process. Should this have been an abstract macro, this would have likely done much better.
Technically, there is little to fault with the picture as I believe the use of the macro filter has done its job.
I like the use of a shallow depth of field in this, and I hope you will use your macro filter more!
On a whole, the picture is a bit dark. While it creates an interesting mood, I do not know if that is what you intended. In general, DPC voters tend to not prefer moddy, darker photos, and tend to the 'eye candy' photos.
The other thing I noticed is it seems a touch oversharpened, though you do not list it in your processing steps.
If you have any questions, feel free to pm me
