 This is a whisk that is standing up in some floral foam with a piece of black velvet laid on top of the foam set next to our dining room window. Minutes to set up and shoot with not a whole lot of thought as to the final product. I just knew I wanted the top of a whisk against a black background. When I downloaded the image and saw the cool flowing light on the velvet I decided to play that up a bit. Gave it an ethereal quality to it or something. Overall though this is just a shot that took me under 25 minutes to setup, shoot, edit and submit. Not really an inspired shot or anything, just something to appease my update button addiction. Hopefully a 6+ score.

Pretty straight forward editing - NI, high pass, levels, hue/sat adjustment to ocnvert to b&w, gaussian blurred everything but the most in focus parts of whisk, added blue color, dodged light streaks, resize, USM, big border.

Wow, Tim! Way to glam up an ordinary kitchenware item! That's what this challenge was all about . . .turning boring into art. And you succeeded with flying colors! Beautiful tones of blue for that matter :)

I figured the end of a whisk would be the most entered shot in this challenge and I considered doing one anyway but I couldn't make it look cool. This looks cool. Love the tones and the simplicity.
