Challenge: Landscape III (Expert Editing*)
Camera: Canon EOS-D30
Lens: Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II
Location: Hoorn, the Netherlands
Date: Apr 17, 2007
Aperture: f/3.5

Shutter: 1/400
Galleries: Landscape, Seascapes
Date Uploaded: Apr 17, 2007

Last minute submission, wanted to enter Hair first but saw the sky on the last day of the challenge and figured i HAD to shoot it. I know it might be considered a seascape/cloudscape by some but i like it.
Messed around with the color saturation in Lightroom and then in PS i burned some, lightened some parts, and cloned some minor details out.
Hope you all like it!

This doesn't look very sharp and there's soo much light in the sky.

Good colour in the background. The fuzziness of the background does draw my attention to the foreground, but I don't know which one is "the" rock; I count at least 8. Perhaps if they didn't overlap, it would have been a bit better. Ideally, there would have been only one. Despite this, your placement of the rock (the pointy one, which is the one I assume you're concentrating on) is good.

I like the rocks close up, adds good foreground interest. Seems to be a bit out of focus off in the distance, maybe a higher f/stop? Great colors throughout, good mix of pink/blue.

Well the lack of focus on the backround isn´t really appealing to me and also that blown sky is a shame, especially since it´s an expert editing challenge and you could have taken a separate shot for the sky and fixed it in post processing.

The actual landscapoe part is underexposed and that bit of blown out sky uis distracting. Compositionally this is excellent though and if you live nearby definitely get a few more shots.

i think i would have preferred it if the building in the top right was also in focus

The effect on the sky is that of too much neat image (not just blurred, but kind of glassy and with some fringing around the structure on the middle right). But the colors are great and I like the roughness of the water.

The whole shot seems too out of focus.

I wish this had a greater depth of field. Well, I don't know. The clouds look quite nice blurred and almost abstract. Good colors. I just can't make up my mind today! :)
