Captured a Bumble Bee in the garden (very cool day so it was extra slow) and cooled in freezer. Set up a sprig of Plum blosson and used one of my wife's still life watercolors as a background. Placed the now very cold and slow bee on a blossom and as he came back to an active state I started shooting using reflected flash. He ended up doing this hanging by a tread trick that I thought was interesting so here it is.

Amazing timing on this capture! DOF is nice to keep the bee in great focus; a few bits of the flowers are in the same plane and detract a little. Overall uniqueness of the shot makes it stand out.

I love this, he really looks like he's grasping for the branch.

I love this - one of my favorites so far - great colors and focus - only positice critisism is that the focus is dead center

interesrting never seen the eyes before.
shame the bee is not against a contrasting backing, might have cropped left off to remove the blurry bit on the top flower.

That's interesting and odd looking! I've never seen a bee hanging on for dear life, good capture. A bit dark around the bee although your DOF is great.

Oh wow! First off, wonderfully captured details in the bee! And the colors in the photograph are wonderfully vibrant. Great capture in the action - this little bee really does appear to be 'holding' on for dear life forgetting that it has wings and can simply just fly off. Love that little gleam in the eye for it projects the 'spark' of life in the insect.
