 Sadly, the lighting in my apartment is not ideal, but I like the composition. I can't wait til I get my Canon 10D. I'll do this shot again and compare! Thanks for viewing. Vote honestly and leave me feedback suggestions (including camera specific suggestions too).

Well, shows me for trying to shoot my mom's engagement ring, or any piece of jewelery for that matter. I should have worked on the lighting more. Gold really reflects light too much. The amathyst came out nicely I think (color and clarity wise). I see what everyone means by the DOF was off, especially with the blurring of my middle finger. It's hard to take a shot of one's own hand too! :) haha. Thanks for your comments friends!!!

That is one big rock! But not so big that it should affect the DOF on the middle finger, seems to me the entire shot should be in sharp focus. Also the light is blown out on the top and shining off the fingers. Perhaps if you had come from the other side, like someone was showing off the ring and you could see the entire hand? A 4

That's a different sort of mounting. I like the wire work, though I don't much like the cut of the stone. Still good choice of image.

The stone and the ring should be sharp. Sharpness is now on the hand.

Jewelery is one of the hardest things to shoot. The light goes nuts on ya and the composition can be difficult.The veiw here doesn't add to the pretty ring. Nice try and good luck in the challenge.

that ring is quite awful, gosh. it doesn't really represent money to my eyes. good lighthing and focus though
