Loosely based on Dungeons & Dragons (NOT the MOVIE); a very risky and adventurous shot for me in terms of topic and technique - also my first attempt at light painting.

I wanted to highlight the treasure chest while maintaining the four figures as silhouettes, especially the minotaur at the back which I wanted to mostly hide and suggest that danger lurks in the shadows. Only the axe and horn hints the danger which the three adventurers are in. Obviously this is an impossible task with conventional lighting (I think).

Taken in near total darkness, using a halogen Mag-lite to paint the shot. Getting a proper exposure was a surprisingly easy task to achieve, but getting the *correct* lighting effect was very tough.

If I could combine this shot with a few of my other shots (taking the best part of each), I think I'd have gotten a much better one than this. Oh well, this is the best that I can do before bedtime....

i like the treasure chest angle for the shot, but i don't see the "danger" and i think the photo is too dark.

I see how the dark areas could be viewed as adding an air of mystery, but IMHO it obscures the objects to the point where they are undistinguishable, other than the chest.

Technical: Fits the challenge. Exposure/lighting is obviously to acheive effect, but in my mind it fails. Focus good, too hard to tell if composition is good or not.

Personal: Creative but not well executed.

My vote: 4

this is a great picture but there is too much that i can't distinguish what anything is beside the obvious treasure chest, i.e. the "danger" portion of the title.

Nice idea, but lighten it up a bit so the stuff shows up a little more.

Nice lighting and DOF. AND, I like that the photo "tells" a story ( or at least invites you to imagine one ).

I like the treasure chest very much but it seems a bit on the dark side for me I like the idea though maybe you could have cropped it closer and focused on the chest more

I can't really tell what is going on in the pic. Is it D&D toys or something?
