Maybe I should have painted the planets and the clouds...just like someone painted birds in....then I wouldn't have been disqualified.

Oh well...two sets of rules...you can't win them all.

You may not:
add graphics or clip art images to your entry or its border during editing.

You may:
apply a full range of editing tools to all or part of your entry.

Ho hum!

To whatever expent possible, they are. My understanding is that you can clone, distort, filter and draw in stuff to your heart's content in Expert, but you can't use clip art or photographs taken by other people and/or outside the challenge dates (the planets) in your composition. The only exception is images used as textures. Whether you paste them in directly or use a pre-made filter, those planets are still photographic images (real or CGI).

This is like some medieval saint burning at the stake to his/her considerable inconvenience, but giving history another milestone on which to look back while tracing progress to our modern times. For better or for worse. Look at expert editing now.
As for DQ, at least you can say you've been there.
10/30/2008 07:47:30 AM
So, not to stir up an old argument (which I don't think this should have been DQ'd). In an expert challenge- if there ever is one again- could you create the planets in Lunar Cell, then either photograph them off a print, or from the screen (the print probably giving better results) and have them be legal? Just a thought.

great image anyway Well done with such a great idea
Sorry about your DQ

Damn Judi, sorry about the DQ. I thought everything went also. It is still a sweet ass shot. I love the guys face, it reminds me of the guy in the movie Men in Black. Great idea, and setup though.

Ohhhh Judy,
I thought as well that everithing goes in expert.
So if your own shot of a planet and it's taken after the challange it's ok? If it's an old one or a clipart it's not?
Realy good and creative image

10 from me....lucky you to get your photo in in time, I had mine taken and ready to submit when they pulled it.

Well, it has just been suggested by SC that if I give all photos a score of 10 (which I have done), then the scores will not count. So rather than risk that, I will have to adjust my score on this photo, sorry, you can blame SC if you like.

Bit unclear about the sock. It's usually said of astronauts and other travellers beyond the realms of normality, that they are always that much better off for knowing where their socks are. And their towel, obviously.
