This was taken during the 2007 Cooper River Bridge Run in Downtown Charleston. The runners had completed about 5 miles of the run, and were about 1 mile from the finish line. Of the 250+ shots that day, this was one of my favorites. Probably because it's one of the few where the runner looked at the camera, but more because she seemed to be looking through it.
Further investigation reveals:
In this 10K run, the numbers visible in the photo are as follows:
2323: Gus Hutto from Clemson, SC finished in 863rd place with a time of 43:31. He is 18 years old.
2363: Doug Coats from Wingate, NC finished in 846th place with a time of 43:17. He is 18 years old.
3082: Thomas Skwierawski from Charleston, SC finished in 839th place with a time of 43:06. He is 20 years old.
4079: Bree Ruppert from Charleston, SC finished in 925th place with a time of 45:18. She is 23 years old.
2649: Les Braswell from Irmo, SC finished in 891st place with a time of 45:10. He is 19 years old.
1095: Kenny Messer from Spartanburg, SC finished in 892nd place with a time of 44:57. He is 43 years old.
All of the times I listed are from the chips they wore which recorded time based on transponders located throughout the course. The clock times differed, primarily because they passed the start transponder at different times. This is why their placement does not correspond very well with the run times I gave. :)

I love how the center person is in focus & looking at the camera, it brings your attention to her. |

The expression on 4079's face is intense. I'm glad you got her looking right at the camera. |

I think this shot could have been great if you had greater reach to isolate her in vertical orientation from waistline up.
She has a great expression. |

Nice capture...she seems so calm and effortless in comparison to the guys who all appear to be struggling! |

I like this photograph and think it would be even better if you had converted it to black and white. Then we could have really focused on her face which is looking right at us and not been distraced by all the color. Nice capture! |
