 I made my first gel candle with a few shells inside, one being the star fish you can see, I felt it was to bare on its own so I put some flower heads at the base of the stem on the glass to fill the frame more

i wish the background was a little more solid black.

It looks like you used a flash, which is odd when capturing candlelight. The glass/candle is out of focus, it appears you used automatic focus and it focussed on the closest object. A deeper depth of field might have helped keep everything in focus. This doesn't say "still" to me.

Lighting on flowers to harsh and to dark in background IMHO.
