Artifacts of the era in which I grew up, doing all the things that we did at the time. Some were illegal, some were illicit. But we did love our music, and we did believe in peace and love. Flower children, as it were. I have a collection of about 200 of these magnificent psychedelic posters of San Francisco's Fillmore West concerts from the late 1960s. The peace emblem necklace was made for me by a friend's father back in the same era, and I wore it proudly. The posters in the photo are from Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, James Cotton Blues Band, and Moby Grape concerts. All night for $2.50, and "Kiddies Free!" Ahhh, those were the days. Those psychedlic letters were easier to make out back then. I wonder why....?
I set the posters on the living room floor, and lit them with 3 lamps. I cropped, adjusted brightness and did an auto color adjustment, and liked how it looked. Framed, resized, and saved.

I was a little young but I remember the era (turned 6 in '69) and I do remember the music and still like it today. great shot and I feel it should have done better, I gave it a 7 during voting and feel it was worth that at least. Great idea.

Hi Maxaz1
Love the shot. Only thing I would hve done differently was the chain. I would have snaked it between the eyes and around the nose or had it look like they were wareing it. Other wise what can I say great Photograp.

As mentioned before, awesome border. I would only have liked this more, I think, with the necklace draped as if the figure in the front poster were "wearing" it.

I love this shot, and I remember those days well. The colors are wonderful, and I like the way you have laid out the posters. The peace necklace adds a nice extra dimension to an otherwise flat image, and the way it echoes the corner of one of the posters is a nice touch. The border is GREAT. It makes the whole thing look rather like a poster or trading card. I might have rotated the image 90 degrees clockwise, but it works this way too.

This is neat because I just saw an exhibit at the local Institute of Arts called San Francisco Psychedelic. One whole room was posters from the Avalon and the Fillmore - a lot for the eyes to process! Nice setup. I'm not sure I'm crazy about the border here but I suppose it fits in quite well. (Not voting, just passing through. :) )

Here's an example where the border definitely adds to the picture! Very colorful and very appropriate for the challenge.

trippy...but I'd have to say the poster would need to be '67 to be pop, '77 makes it retro 60's...hey at least i commented ;)

Nice use of your old fillmore posters ... I was thinking of something along the same lines with my collection. I like what you did with the angles and colors, and that old peace sign is classic. Nice job!
