 A proud Akita Male in the park.

Very bright day, so I used an extremely fast shutter to get the depth of field down.

Gaussian blur to soften, saturated, lightened, and reduced contrast slightly.

Critique Club

This definately meets the challenge it is soft. But for as soft as it is one thing stands out to me as just being to soft, the eyes. With the dogs coloring and the soft focus you lost the dogs eyes. I think had you been able to pull more detail around the dogs eyes the photo would have been outstand.

you should have done better than a 5.5 . folks here are something against animal portraits.. oh well. Better luck next time. I Love this photo.

Akita? Awesome dog. Great pose, right on focus for this challenge, colors are great. Looks very majestic. A great photographic interpretation of this breed.

I love Akita's! Had one myself. He passed away of old age a few years back. Best, Smartest dog I ever had.
Good composition and colors.
There is a difference between DOF and soft focus and it looks like I'm going to have to subtract a point for that.

Great looking dog. I think you have achived a soft/in-focus look here. This has detail, color and good focus. Nicely done. Good luck in the challenge I think this should do very well.
