This is my favorite of this speed challenge. The lighting is the bomb. The focus is perfect. The expressions (lack there-of) priceless. Negative space imperitive. I even like the border. If this ain't a ribbon...

Maybe if your Mum was sitting up a little higher so that both of their necklines were visable? Nice use of empty negative spave and B&W. Your Dad looks comfortable doing this, your Mum doesn't though. (My Mum would never dream of getting her photo done like this...) 8

This is a geart idea but it doesn't quite work for me - perhaps a little less harsh lighting and lower the camera anlge to reduce the negative space a little

very interesting coposition for a portrait... excellent work :)

Great portrait, but I would have had them closer together. Sharpness and shades right on.

An interesting light setup, but I am not sure the composition suits them; I don't think this is a good way to satisfy the rule of thirds.

A good thing to be thankful for, but why are they so low down in the frame?

Great shot. The high contrast and then a lot of dead black space has really worked here.

Your Dad looks like a tough guy and your Mom appears to have a beautiful soul. This is an outstanding photograph. I can not say enough, wonderful.

There is a lot of emotion in this picture. The lightning gives a lot of drama. i like it a lot.

Nice photo. The lighting is a little harsh and i can see the detail in the background still, but its an original composition for a portrait, which I like. 8

Bad Points: man seems to be squinting, too much negative space I feel.
Good Points: nice shadows, well exposed. Nice idea
Overall Score: 6

By far the most intersting portrait so far in this challenge - love the expressions, composition, lighting.

LOL now this is a funny pose. I love it. I think the set up is fantastic. Your mom's expression is so good. I love them and know I'd like them just by looking at them. Good people. You did this well and I hope this does good in the challenge.

Not sure they are too happy to be photographed though, LOL! The negative space hurts this a bit to me. An 8

I may be way off base... maybe not, but I predict Konador as the owner of this image! An excellent shot, great lighting, wonderful use of negative space. If those expressions don't indicate that they are parents of a teenage boy, then I give up!! Good luck in the challenge... I give it a 9! JD
