I put some incence in an empty cup.. I didn't get the "hot cup" effect that I wanted but I still like the shot.

I kept the soft focus to set a relaxing mood... morning groginess... :-)

This was one of my favourite photos in the challenge and I think you should have ended much higher. I love the composition, the sepia and the expression of your subject. Nice work!

I can certainly relate to this, and what a great smell it is. I like the tone and the border, it reminds me of coffee. The light reflection in the coffee mug is a little distracting but I understand some things can not be avoided. The image is a little soft, almost like it has been through neatimage but not quite as severe, but I suppose this could add to the dreamy mood. I like the idea of capturing the steam, but the placement is not the best- it is almost as if she is crying into the mug.

My favorite theme! Composition is good; Lighting is a bit harsh though and three seems to be some reflection on the subject's face on the right which is distracting. Maybe it is steam, which is good, but it doesn't look good over the eye here.

This really gets the feeling of the smell of coffee across well.

Nice use of the sepia tone.

whats wrong with her? What is the streak infront of her face. Very hot lighting.

Good idea, but could use a bit of contrast. I think B&W is the way to go here

I like this photo a lot and it certainly makes me smell the coffee. However, I am wondering how this would have looked in straight b&w. The only thing that is disturbing are the reflections from your light source. 9

Seems like a familiar face to me....... (from previous challenges)
This photo certainly expresses: "Aaaaaaaahhhhhh, Coffee!"
Nice photo, good toning, but I'd drop the border. It is not necesarry here and it distracts becayse it is too light and in the same toning as the scene itself.

I like the sepia sort of tone. Good composition. Good work!

Lighting seems harsh and brings out shiny nature of skin (could do with diffuse light source and powdered skin). But choice to go tight in on subject and to have model close her eyes, works well. I'd like to see more symmetry in the position of her fingers.

Very flat but I know what you mean about the first cup
11/26/2003 04:06:56 AM
Your flash was a bit to much, kind of messed up a good shot.

Good choice in sepia toning there. It has a real coffee flavour to it :) This could be used for a coffee advertisement but first I'd get rid of that harsh lighting glare on the cup. I recognise the face there don't I? I bet this is a Yanik shot :)

Absolutely love it, I can almost smell the coffee. The steam off the mug and the eyes shut while the model takes in the aroma, really work. Sepia was also a great choice here. Great photo!

Excellent. Theme would be clearly conveyed even if you weren't aware there was one. She's actively engaging in the sense of smell, letting the fragrant steam warmly drift into her face and fill into her lungs to help start her day. The brown tint further support the coffee experience and the lighting on the face gives a tight moist texture on the skin to further supports the rising steam. Super job.
